Our Story
Rooted in Erie.
A family tradition, passed from one generation to the next.

A few slices.
A lasting tradition.
In the 1930s, John and Agatha Barbato made pizza at home and brought it to Erie’s Pratola Peligna Society—the P.P. Club—to bake and sell by the slice.
That small beginning inspired their sons to bring the family’s pizza to more of Erie.
From a neighborhood shop to an Erie tradition.
Pat and Nick opened their first shop near 17th and State streets in the early 1950s. It began as a carryout operation, with help from their brothers Fred, Al and John, known as Chick.
When redevelopment prompted a move across the street, the new shop added a full-service dining room. A second location followed in Wesleyville in 1955.
John “Chick” Barbato Sr. and his wife, Amelia, made improvements to the Wesleyville restaurant while keeping the family recipes at its heart. Their sons John Jr., Rob and Mike continued that tradition.
More than pizza.
Over the years, the menu grew to include homemade pastas, lasagna, gnocchi, stuffed shells, Italian wedding soup, subs and plenty more. Today, diners can choose original or fresh dough pizza, sit down for an Italian dinner, or bring their favorites home.
